This just in
Wal-Mart Stores announced on Friday morning that it has chosen a side in the battle for high-definition video supremacy: by June, it will stock only Blu-ray Disc players.
This is quite the bummer for non Blu-ray disc players. To wit:
…Back in December I posted a Blog that said “HD or BD – Does Anyone Care.” I only received one response, I was very disappointed.
But following the news from Best Buy and Netflix, everyone’s asking “what about Wal-Mart?” Ok, so are you ready…Wal-Mart is going Blu. MORE….
Written by Susan, who:
…I have one of the best jobs in the world. I get to buy the most fashionable products, we have new items in store every Tuesday, and get to deal with some of the most creative people. I am a Buyer in the movie category at Wal-Mart. (I bet you thought I was going to say apparel.) Did you know Wal-Mart carries over 15,000 different movies at any one time? ….
This spells DOOM in big huge capital letters for merchants who aren’t Blu.
Why is Blu better, I hear you ask? You can check out:
Wonder how the opposition will respond?

So. You’ve finally decided
that that 50K that you found lying about on your bedroom floor should really be put to astonishingly good use….ideally as the ultimate of home theaters.
‘Course, I don’t blame you - what better way could you spend that money (unless it’s for 4 12K exercise bikes)?
But what sort of home theater design should you have? Should it be centered around:
- Indiana Jones
- The Titanic
- The Natilus
- The Matrix
- The Terminator
- The Death Star
- The Batcave
- The Starship Enterprise
Well???? Tell tell tell, what’s really the best? The folks at Slippery Brick obviously have been pondering the same thing, because they came up with 15 of the coolest home theaters imaginable! You should definitely check them out; your mind will spin with ideas.

Morning,
So! It’s 2008 and you crave, utterly crave to seize the latest and greatest HDTV product on the market.
Well that’s very well and good, but how do you know what’s the best one to get?
Luckily, there are lots of resources online that can help you in your quest for visionary greatness. Consider HDTV Magazine’s articles that reveal:
… You have been hearing about HDTV and decided to start looking for one. A friend of yours reminds you that the general knowledge about buying regular TVs from the CRT analog era is not sufficient to select a digital product today, so you quickly review what you read about widescreen, black bars, digital tuners and resolution, and hope things would clear out at the store.
You get into the typical nationwide consumer electronic store most people go to, and suddenly see several dozens of HDTV demo sets staring back at you. A salesperson is approaching you, the person’s face is familiar; the salesperson is the one that sold you the new dishwasher two weeks ago; now the person is selling HDTVs with authority. At that point you start feeling worried, but you hang in there….MORE….
I really like this article because it takes the reader by the hand and explains all the complexities inherent in the product…in a way a layperson can understand. It’s truly excellent reading - do yourself a favor and check it out. And if it’s not enough, you can enjoy:
Enjoy,
