The videos focus on the goofy antics of an oddball named “Bob,” who is supposed to be a coffee addict and the type of guy who finds a thousand things to do at work besides doing work. The first two Webisodes in the “Who Hired Bob?” series are already on the site. Interactivity comes in the form of giving viewers the opportunity to pick different endings to the zany episodes. … BMW has announced that it will launch its new ConnectedDrive technology at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. ConnectedDrive will allow BMW owners to access the entire internet via the car’s iDrive and center mounted LCD screen. Initially, ConnectedDrive will only be available in Europe.

The ConnectedDrive service will be provided by EDGE technology (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), which is the same service that Apple uses to connect its iPhone to the internet. Transfer speeds are said to be just slower than 3G — which is the speed of most wireless cards.

For safety reasons, ConnectedDrive will only be accessible at speeds slower than 5km/hr. However, vehicles equipped with BMW rear-seat DVD player will allow rear-seat passengers to use the internet at any speed….MORE….

Techorate is a term coined by LG Electronics that refers to the integration of technology into the overall decorative theme of a home.

Wilson, perhaps best known for showcasing his design expertise on TLC’s “Trading Spaces,” is working with LG Electronics as the first official “Techorator” to develop consumer tips and tricks to guide them through the techorating process.

…For several years people have been talking about the idea of miniaturizing a projector so that it’s small enough to fit inside a cell phone or digital camera. Now it’s finally been done.

The mobile projector is about a centimeter thick and about 4 centimeters tall by 3 centimeters wide — small enough to fit inside portable devices like cell phones, PDAs, or a digital still camera, said Todd Rutherford, product development specialist with 3M’s optical systems division.

It uses an LED as the light source and can project a VGA resolution (640 pixels by 480 pixels) image through a lens that’s about a centimeter in diameter.

3M is demonstrating the projector at CES built into a small handheld device that runs video from flash memory. The image projected onto walls or other light surfaces was good enough and easy enough to see over a distance of about half a meter, although it suffered over greater distances due to the bright lights of the show floor.

The demo attracted a lot of attention and a constant stream of show attendees, many of whom had badges identifying them as employees of mobile phone makers or network operators….MORE….

Yes indeed, in honor of the HotWheels 40th Anniversary, enterprising jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills, wreaked the following automotive miracle:

…. Jeweler to the stars, Jason of Beverly Hills, transformed this $1 toy into a $140,000 dust-collecting bauble. Almost every surface of the car is covered in some type of precious stone. The car’s 18-karat white-gold body shimmers with blue diamonds, the base features white and black diamonds, rubies are set in the car’s taillights, and black diamonds were used on the car’s tires. Even the tiny interior is jeweled as is the engine. There are 2,700 jewels on the car at a weight of nearly 23-karats.

The car was introduced at the 2008 Toy Fair in New York by Nick Lachey (who’s sorry now, Jessica?), who will auction off the toy later this year with the proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters. to shake my head at what people are willing to do in the name of stupidity creative answers to burning desires. If you’re the same way, you’ll probably love The Darwin Awards - it contains such gems like:

Summer is the most blissful of seasons, when our favorite summertime activity — do it yourself stupidity — kicks into high gear. Meet Charles, 34, a Denver masonry contractor who created brick and mortar edifices. Charles was in construction. He had worked on houses, he had watched electricians install wiring. He believed this qualified him as a member of the Junior Electrician Society. He figured he could handle any electrical issue that came up around his own home.

One day on the job, Charles was apparently bonked in the head by his bricks. He had the great idea! He would build an electric fence in his own backyard. “An electric fence will keep the dogs in.” Charles connected a wire to an extension cord, and managed to encircle his backyard with a 120-V strand of wire without mishap. His dogs will not be sued for puppy support with this security system in place!

A 24-year-old supermarket shoplifter stuffed a pair of live lobsters in his pants and sprinted for the door, but he never had a chance. The violated crustaceans brought the thief to his knees in front of startled cashiers when they fastened their powerful claws around his delicate parts.

Doctors were able to remove the animals with pliers. They say the thief will fully recover — except for one small detail. “It was a do-it-yourself vasectomy.” This man’s daring supermarket exploits make him one of the few Darwin Award winners to live to tell the tale.

You know, I really love marketing

and putting out words that become industry buzzwords.

Long long ago, back before the earth’s crust cooled, I was one of the original pioneers of Internet Recruiting. My book, The Internet Recruiting Edge, was the only 5 star resource reviewed at Inc Magazine; I was in the right place at the right time and taught thousands of individuals. It was quite the wild ride.

Back then, there was another company, AIRS. They also taught Internet recruiting but had the smarts to create buzzwords like “peeling back” and “flipping” and “x-raying” (Ah, hindsight is 2020, if only I knew that marketing trick back then!).

Well, AIRS is now being acquired! To wit:

… AIRS, the recruitment technology and training company that introduced “peeling back” “flipping” and “x-raying” to the recruiting lexicon, has been acquired by RPO servicer TheRightThing.

The deal was finalized last week and will be announced this morning.

Speaking with ERE in advance of the announcement the CEOs of the two companies were ebullient over the deal.

“We’re giddy about this,” Terry Terhark, CEO of TheRightThing declared early in the conversation, followed by AIRS CEO Chris Forman pronouncing the deal “A great thing for both companies.”

A pioneer in online sourcing, AIRS will continue as an independent brand; its headquarters staying in the 200-year-old barn in Wilder, VT. Terhark and Forman, whose new title will be president of AIRS, said there will no layoffs and, in fact, both are looking to increase the 62 person staff as TheRightThing begins to market the AIRS product line….
